Cross train to avoid overuse injuries. Runners who only run are prone to injury. Weight training will make you more powerful and an injury-free runner. Plyometrics drills like box jumps will make you a more effective runner. Low impact sports like biking and swimming will help build your cardiovascular endurance with less trauma to your body.
